Solution Focused Coaching with Children and Adolescents: A Solution Focused Approach
A New Two-day Course with Chris Iveson
Don’t believe everything you hear about children and adolescents. They are people, just like us, and as responsive to the Solution Focused Approach as anyone else. And why wouldn’t they be? If life is not going well then, of course, they will want a future where things are better and if they discover a pathway to this better future they will be as quick off the mark as anyone else to follow that path.
In this workshop you will watch, practice and share the many ways of working successfully, even joyously, with children, adolescents and an occasional parent.
If you are new to Solution Focused Practice you will pick up the basics here and if you are an old hand you will know that there only are the basics yet each time you visit them you discover more about the approach and more in your own capacity to use it creatively. If you are already working with children and young people this workshop will inspire you to happily take on the most challenging cases and if you are not then here is a good place to start.
Everyone will be warmly welcomed to this workshop and a special welcome will be given to all you executive and life coaches who might want to contribute to creating a better future for the next generation. Adapt your skills just that little bit and become volunteer coaches in schools, colleges, sports clubs, churches or anywhere children and young people might be found. You might need to be persuasive, jump through a bureaucratic hoop or two but once you do you will never regret it. And the bonus for the rest of the group will be your own special skills and perspectives.
Workshop Leader
Chris Iveson’s first job was teaching apprentice bricklayers after which he trained as a social worker and family therapist and for twenty-five years covered all aspects of children’s social work including nine years in an NHS Children and Family Therapy Service. In 1995 he began working full-time at BRIEF, the Centre for Solution Focused practice he founded with his two colleagues Evan George and Harvey Ratner. By then BRIEF was, and still is, one of the world’s leading centres for the practice and teaching of the Solution Focused Approach.
Author and co-author of five books (translated in eleven languages) and numerous articles and book chapters Chris and his colleagues have been a major influence in the development of Solution Focused Practice – a development which shows no sign of stopping.
Chris has run workshops and presented at conferences all over the world and has a reputation for the clarity of his good-humoured teaching.
